I’m fortunate enough for Etic to have invited me back to Lisbon, Portugal for a third time to run some workshops across a 4 day period and also run a one off presentation open to everyone on the 4 July 18.30-20.30. Chris will be joining me this time as we will be discussing Things Fall Apart and other Devoid of Yesterday projects. Hopefully we’ll be shooting a short piece aswell if we can find the time! Hope to see some of you there and as always keep an eye on my flickr account for a photo journal of the trip.

In my opinion 50% of all good motion design is sound. I’ve had the privelege of working with 2 great sound designers for my work… firstly with DoSC who created some awesome sounds for my earlier work (Black Day to Freedom) and more recently with Ben of Hecq (Things Fall Apart). I first started working with Ben back in April 2006 after first discovering his Bad Karma album. I emailed him asking if he was interested in potential projects etc and the rest is history! The first piece Ben helped me with was Spring 06 reel which I prepared for the OFFF conference in May 2006 where he donated a track from the Bad Karma album so it was only right that when the time came to update my reel that I turned to Ben to create the tone and atmosphere to convey my work. I was struggling to come up with an idea that felt right for where I was with my career at this moment in time and Ben came up with a great idea and concept that worked for me perfectly! The above image is a snapshot of the work Ben put into the latest reel (which is now complete and will be online next week) and shows the commitment and attention to detail that he applies to every project. His latest album 0000 is out on Hymen records and comes highly recommended. Watch out for the reel!

Finally the updated Devoid of Yesterday site is LIVE with Things Fall Apart as the main focus! Special thanks to Ars Thanea for all their hard work with the flash site and of course to (mt) for hosting! Hope you all enjoy! Please let us know your thoughts on the piece!

Started shooting footage for my Nokia Trends Lab contribution yesterday and am really liking how its turning out as far as video phones go… the footage is heavily compressed so I can’t do a heavy grade on the film as it pixellates to hell but I think it should turn out ok! Ben has started on audio and its sounding very nice! Watch this space!

Today I went down to check out the installation of my section of the If Elsewhere exhibition’s status and the Scatter Project crew have been hard at work painting and setting up the spaces! A1 Banners, a local vinyl graphics company put up a 2 meter wide Black Day to Freedom logo in gloss black onto the matt black painted wall thus emulating the book cover. Looks great! Tomorrow is opening night and I just have to get 3 A3 images framed up then I’m all ready to go!

If Elsewhere will be exhibiting 7 contemporary projects related to “Glocality” - the global local. Black Day To Freedom is one of the projects and will be housed in a little black room that is being built at the Media Centre in Huddersfield where the exhibition takes place from 15 June through to 6 July this summer! I’m looking forward to seeing how it all comes together and will post up some pics of it all asap!
