New York State of Mind

New York… what a city.. what can be said about this place that hasn’t already been written, photographed and filmed? It was everything I expected and yet nothing I expected… I feel like my D200 hasn’t left my hands in 2 weeks and I still haven’t shot enough or been everywhere that I wanted to get to. Among the places that I did visit were Brooklyn’s Coney Island, Dumbo, Vinegar Hill, Ground Zero, China Town, Little Italy, Soho, Greenwich Village, Flatiron… everythings a bit of a blur… I was a little disappointed in the whole 5th Ave and Times Square bling but fell in love predictably with the low key Dumbo and downtown NY… I got to hang out with some really great people and even managed to somehow find myself in an understated club in downtown NY called 205 at Charlize Theron’s launch party for East of Havana… I hit some great eating spots such as Florent in the Meat Packing District and a crazy place that appeared as a fast food “joint” and then you go through an unmarked door and go downstairs and pass through the kitchen into an amazing place called La Esquina.

So first off a big thanx to Joan, Jojo, Heather and everyone at DK for making the trip happen and of course for making my stay so welcome and then to some people that I have worked with online but only just met in person… Yves from pLot, Shirley from Issara… watch this girl shes gonna be big! (thanx for taking the time out to show me the cinematic NYC) Alison from Ink Capture and Mr John N Pasmore… thanks guys for being as cool in person as you are online!
